I almost didn't finish this book。I could read articles and articles about self help but this book got too boring to enjoy。 My problem with the book is how it's written, the author is narrating short stories of people that I don't care about。 What I cared about was the moral at the end and most of the times skipping the story was better。 Towards the end I got really bored that I started skim reading it。The last section of the book is also stories of how people cured their worry as if the book did I almost didn't finish this book。I could read articles and articles about self help but this book got too boring to enjoy。 My problem with the book is how it's written, the author is narrating short stories of people that I don't care about。 What I cared about was the moral at the end and most of the times skipping the story was better。 Towards the end I got really bored that I started skim reading it。The last section of the book is also stories of how people cured their worry as if the book didn't talk about people enough。For what it's worth, the book has some good techniques towards life and worrying and it puts you in a postive attitude towards being in control of your emotions, yet some of the advice was easier said than done and felt unrealistic。 I wouldn't recommend it as it gets boring yet it will take you literally one day to skim through the book and take notes of summary of each chapter。 。。。more

I stopped reading this book post 2nd chapter thinking that I am already applying or following most of these methods。 And a week later, I picked it up again to meet my Goodreads goal。 Probably the best decision I made。 I was wrong all along, I wasn’t doing things to my full potential。If you wish to lead a healthier and happier life, this is a must read for you or else like the author suggests - Please read the first forty-four pages and if by that time you don’t feel you have acquired a new power I stopped reading this book post 2nd chapter thinking that I am already applying or following most of these methods。 And a week later, I picked it up again to meet my Goodreads goal。 Probably the best decision I made。 I was wrong all along, I wasn’t doing things to my full potential。If you wish to lead a healthier and happier life, this is a must read for you or else like the author suggests - Please read the first forty-four pages and if by that time you don’t feel you have acquired a new power and a new inspiration to stop worry and enjoy life - then toss this book into the dustbin。 It is no good for you。 。。。more

DNF。 This book was a little too dated for me。 After reading about how apparently marital troubles causes arthritis, it's hard to take anything the author says seriously。 That plus some religious overtones made this not my cup of tea。 DNF。 This book was a little too dated for me。 After reading about how apparently marital troubles causes arthritis, it's hard to take anything the author says seriously。 That plus some religious overtones made this not my cup of tea。 。。。more

。。。more

Great book! It helps put things in perspective, e。g。 Despite all the problems that exist in the world today, we are living in arguably the best of times。 It does not mean that we should stop wanting to improve things, but it also helps one to not feel hopeless。That said, the section on 'turning to religion' was not quite my favorite bit。 But I understand how the idea of benevolent gods watching over us may make some people feel better。 Great book! 。。。more

This book had a lot of good tips on how to stop worrying but what I don't like about this author is 1) the examples he uses are antiquated and 2) the amount of examples he uses。 It's a great book to read especially during these tough times of uncertainty and stress。 This book had a lot of good tips on how to stop worrying but what I don't like about this author is 1) the examples he uses are antiquated and 2) the amount of examples he uses。 It's a great book to read especially during these tough times of uncertainty and stress。 。。。more

。。。more

This book was first published in 1948 and it still holds true today。 As I was reading this book, I was folding the corners of pages and highlighting with a pen those paragraphs that really resonated with me。 Now, whenever I feel my anxiety creeping in again, I turn to this book and open each folded page and re-read those paragraphs I have highlighted for myself。 As I do it, things fall back into their place and I feel calmer。 This book helped me gain a different perspective on work。 It helped re This book was first published in 1948 and it still holds true today。 As I was reading this book, I was folding the corners of pages and highlighting with a pen those paragraphs that really resonated with me。 Now, whenever I feel my anxiety creeping in again, I turn to this book and open each folded page and re-read those paragraphs I have highlighted for myself。 As I do it, things fall back into their place and I feel calmer。 This book helped me gain a different perspective on work。 It helped re-evaluate what things are actually important, or rather, to realise that those things that ARE NOT important have taken control of my life。 It helped me look at things from a different perspective。 It is an easy read。 The values of this book probably have been taught by so many。 Nonetheless when I read How to Stop Worrying and Start Living, I have gained a new perspective on aspects of my life。 。。。more

Another bookish entry in my quest of finding some help with anxiety。 Did this help? Am I wowed? Not exactly。 Now, I'm well aware this was written awhile ago and can't be judged too harshly by today's standards but it was a little like the book version of groundhogs day。 Each chapter presented a problem, a solution and dozens of stories on how other people had such a great time making this happen for them and how they're having great lives!!
